The Student Role
The student needs to gradually assume the role of a beginning staff nurse for your unit and to be conscious of the learning expectations for the course and seek learning experiences that fit. The student is expected to continually be in communication with you and the faculty. Observation time is discouraged and should be minimal, with active participation in the activities of the nursing unit occupying most of the clinical time.
