This module contains all of the "nuts and bolts" about a Capstone practicum course, including the preceptor's, student's, and faculty's responsibilities. Your student will receive the course syllabus in the didactic course and is responsible for the contents therein. You need to read the syllabus carefully so that you, too, can understand what is expected of the student you will precept. The module concludes with a learning activity about important competencies.
The Capstone practicum is:
- 112 clinical hours
- 3 hours student orientation
- 1 hour first meeting
- 108 hours practicing with the preceptor on the unit
- 3-credit hours
- A one-to-one clinical experience with a Capstone preceptor
- The clinical demonstration of baccalaureate program outcomes by student
- Faculty/instructor participation as coach for preceptor and student

The preceptor/student/faculty triad is the cornerstone of quality patient outcomes and is represented by the following framework.
